Rankings

Local Finder.

Local SEO glossary · explained in plain English

Local Finder: The Local Finder is the full list of local results that opens when someone clicks "More places" below the map pack. It shows every business Google considers relevant, with a larger map and filters for rating and opening hours.

Why it matters for local businesses

Positions four onwards live here, so far fewer people see them. Tracking where you sit in the Local Finder shows how close you are to breaking into the top three.

How to get it right

  1. Track your position in the Local Finder, not only whether you are in the top three.
  2. Use filters customers use, such as rating and open now, to see where you drop out.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming you are not ranking at all because you are missing from the top three.
